NCB Capital, Bahrain, June 2008

From June 16 - 19, Laney, Brendan and I traveled to Bahrain for a kick-off meeting with NCB Capital. Although the days were mostly filled with meetings, we managed to find a few hours to wander around and be tourists. Here's a few pics from our wanderings.

Brendan and Laney outside the NCBC office building.

Anywhere you go, you'll find the Cinnabon and Seattle's
Best Coffee. Amazingly, I didn't see a Starbucks.

The Diplomat Hotel, where we had two days of client
meetings. And Brendan sporting his Secret Service look.

Local architectural details.

A view into Old Town Manama.

Manama is not pedestrian-friendly; crossing a street
was an adventure in itself.

NCBC's new office building, nearly complete,
on the only day we saw blue sky.

Detail of the building's alternative power source.

Local alternative transportation.

Laney being watched closely by The Man.

A fine layer of dust covered everything.

In four days this was the sole wildlife encounter.

You could stare straight at the sun through all the dust.

Brendan takes a walk through a very empty replica
of an ancient Bahraini settlement.
